It's already the fourth year I'm in Kent Ridge. Yes, I'm now a Secondary Four student. As "O" levels drew nearer, the amount of stress I'm getting compared to the past tremendously increased. At this point of time, I started to miss the life I had in Secondary One. I can still remember clearly, my first day of school...It was my first day of school in Kent Ridge, in the year 2005. I had completed my six years of primary school life and now i was being promoted to secondary one express. School started with speeches from the principal and also from some other teachers. The speech was so long that I had nearly fallen asleep. After all the speeches had ended, we were brought back to our class, 1E5 which was at level one.
Everyone in the class was totally unfamiliar to me. I was left all alone as none of my classmates here came from my primary school. One of the reasons why my primary school friends didn't want to come to Kent Ridge was because Kent Ridge was too far away from their house. So being alone without knowing anyone, i kept really quiet and didn't even smile much. Teachers came into the class and we were told that they would be our class form teachers. Then, we were made to introduce ourselves to our classmates and everyone did it before the teachers carried on.
Soon, the councilors came into the class and started with the ice breaking games. I couldn't really remember what were the games we played, but i do remember one game "blow-wind-blow". All the games were interesting and fun. I really did enjoy them, and got some ideas of some of my classmates.
After half of the day was gone, it was finally recess, the period which all the students including me likes. But at that moment, i really did not like it. Recess on the first day of school meant that i would be all alone. But never mind. I was at the canteen which is located at level three. I bought a bun and a cup of drink for myself and settle down at a table in the canteen. Just when i felt upset about not having any friends, two of my classmates approached me, wanting to make friends with me. I was really glad that there were actually people who would like to be my friends. The both of them should consider my first two friends in Kent Ridge.
Half an hour passed, recess was over. Everyone returned to their class, and the councilors came in again. We were brought on a tour around the school to get the idea or even know where different rooms were located. I wasn't really listening to what the councilors were saying as i was so excited to know the different places around the school.
After touring all the places, we continued to enjoy and have fun! And soon, the day was over. This was what happened on my first day of school. I was indeed fun but it's quite tiring too.
Till now, whenever i thought about my first day in Kent Ridge, I will always tell myself that it's a good start for my secondary school life. =D
